Licence Loss & Appeals Lawyers — Epping

Lost your licence, or about to? Whether it's a suspension you can appeal, a long disqualification you want reduced, or an alcohol interlock you want removed, we help you understand your options and get you back on the road as soon as the law allows.

Getting your licence back

Losing your licence affects your job, your family and your independence. The good news is that a suspension or disqualification is often not the end of the story — depending on how you lost your licence, there may be an appeal, a good-behaviour option, or an application to have your licence reinstated or your interlock removed.

We look at exactly how and why you lost your licence, tell you honestly what's available, and prepare and run the right application or appeal for you in the Magistrates' Court.

What we help with

How it works

1
Tell us how you lost your licence

Suspension, disqualification, demerit points or interlock — the right path depends on the reason.

2
We tell you your options

Appeal, good-behaviour option, restoration or interlock removal — and the earliest date you can act.

3
Prepare your application

We gather the references, driving record and material the Court expects to see.

4
Appear for you

We represent you at the Magistrates' Court and put your strongest case to get you driving again.

Timing matters. Some appeals must be lodged within a short window, and some restorations can only be applied for once a minimum period has passed. Speak to us early so you don't miss a date. General information only — not legal advice.

How licence loss works in Victoria

Licences are lost in several different ways, and each has its own path back. Drink and drug-driving offences usually carry a mandatory disqualification followed by a compulsory alcohol interlock. Demerit-point suspensions come from accumulating points and can sometimes be met with a good-behaviour option instead. Immediate suspensions can follow serious charges or very high speeds — and some of these can be appealed to the Magistrates' Court. Because the rules changed significantly in recent years, the option that applies to you depends on your exact circumstances, which is why early, specific advice pays off.

Advice online, we appear for you

Licence applications and appeals are heard in the Magistrates' Court, so someone needs to appear — and that's us. Your advice and preparation, though, can be handled by online consultation by phone or video, so you can get moving quickly without an office visit while we take care of the court date for you.

Common questions

Can I appeal a licence suspension in Victoria?

Sometimes. Certain suspensions — for example an immediate suspension after a serious charge, or an excessive-speed suspension — can be challenged in the Magistrates' Court. Whether an appeal is available depends on how and why your licence was suspended. We'll tell you quickly whether you have a path.

How do I get my licence back after a long disqualification?

For longer disqualifications you usually apply to the Magistrates' Court to have your licence reinstated once the disqualification period has passed. The court looks at your driving record, why you need a licence, and your conduct since. We prepare and run that application for you.

Can I get the alcohol interlock removed?

After a drink-driving disqualification most people must drive with an alcohol interlock for a set minimum period. Once that minimum has passed you can apply to have the condition removed. We handle the application and the evidence the court and VicRoads expect.

I've lost my licence for demerit points — what are my options?

If you're facing a demerit-point suspension you can usually choose to serve the suspension, or take a 12-month good-behaviour option instead — but if you offend again during that period the suspension is doubled. We explain which option is better for your situation.

Can I keep driving for work if I lose my licence?

No. Victoria does not have a 'work licence' or restricted licence — once you're disqualified or suspended you cannot drive at all until you're eligible again. That's exactly why getting the period right, and taking any available appeal, matters so much.

What happens if I drive while disqualified or suspended?

Driving while suspended or disqualified is a serious offence carrying heavy penalties, and it can extend your time off the road and, in some cases, lead to imprisonment. If you've been charged with it, get advice straight away.

How soon can I apply to get my licence back?

It depends on the length of your disqualification and the type of offence, and some conditions such as interlocks have minimum periods before you can apply. We'll tell you the earliest date you can act and get the application ready.

How much does a licence appeal or restoration cost?

Your first consultation is a fixed fee and there's no cost to make an enquiry. Once we know which application or appeal applies to you, we give you a clear estimate. Online consultations are available if you can't get to the office.
